Not only is it a Super full Moon in Capricorn, but it’s another Cardinal Grand Cross, similar to the one we had earlier in the year (see post for April 10th). A Grand Cross is made of at least 4 planets all at 90 degrees from each other. This time it involves the Sun, the Moon, Mars and Uranus. The grand cross signifies obstacles on our path, things just don’t flow, sometimes it feels like we are being pulled in different directions. It can exaggerate the imbalances in our lives.
As you can see in the chart below, the Grand Cross is overlaid by a Kite formation, this signifies incredible opportunities to access and use this dynamic energy pattern to transform any area of our lives where we have been stuck. The Kite formation, which is made up of 2 triangles, one equal size triangle, called a Grand Trine and a smaller one, next to it (together they look like a kite literally). The pointer of the kite is the Moon and Pluto in Capricorn, this is the key to harness all this intense, potent combination of energies.
Capricorn is ambitious with a strong drive to succeed, and like the mountain goat, it’s symbol, resourceful and persistent. Here are some other qualities associated with capricorn: productive, diligent, cautious, self- sufficient, practical, protective, like to be in control, competitive, loyal and responsible. Reputation and accountability are important, as are mastery and self control.
Full Moon is when the moon is opposite the sun , in this case capricorn and cancer. These two signs represent the primal archetype of father (capricorn) and mother (cancer). Capricorn represents our public life, our profession and cancer represents our personal life, family and home, emotional needs. Are these two areas in harmony in our life or are they at cross purposes?
The full moon is a time of culmination, things come to fruition. If there’s been a project that’s not coming together or an idea that’s not formulating well, this can be a helpful time. Also full moons reveal internal issues that need to be focused on, we are drawn to areas in our personal life that need attention. This full moon focuses us on relationships (mars in libra) vs doing our own thing (uranus in aries).
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, known as the Dweller of the Threshold, meaning it’s between the inner planets (sun, moon, mercury, venus, mars) and the outer planets (uranus, neptune, pluto). It also hold that space in our psyche, it’s the bridge to the unknown, the truth seeker, the one that provides a ‘reality’ hit. It’s an incredible energy, it’s been associated with the Hermit in the classic tarot. It’s the wise old voice in our psyche. Saturn rules structure ( including our skeletal structure) boundaries, owning our authority, being responsible and paying our debts. To incorporate saturn one must not run from fears, but walk right up to them and get to know them intimately!! It’s the art of turning our Demons into Allies!!
And that is what this full moon is requiring of us, to go into things deeply (pluto/ moon) to balance our personal needs with the commitments we have made in the outer world. Lets be resolved to deal with our fears so we can consolidate our personal power by living from our highest integrity. This is the stuff of character making!!!
